World History Alpha - Lenze
Course Description and Expectations
Course Description and Expectations
World History Alpha is an in depth study of the history and culture of our world from Creation to the Industrial Revolution (@ AD. 1500). While it will be taught as a survey history, attention will be paid to the geography of various regions and its impact on the developing cultures.
Students are required to do homework on a nightly basis this includes: reading the text chapters and pages assigned, reviewing their notes, studying vocabulary, answering questions for assignments &tc. Students will also take extensive notes from class discussions, and prepare for test. Attendance is extremely important. Students who miss class regularly will see a dramatic decrease in their class average.
Homework is collected by the teacher on the date due. Alternatively, students may electronically submit their work (before 6:00 A.M. on the due date), using the “turn in” button on Googledocs, for a 5% bonus on each assignment. Any paper not turned in at that time will receive a zero grade. Work turned back to the student is to be kept in a 1” binder along with lecture notes, classwork, tests and quizzes. The binder will be collected every three weeks for a grade.
There will be at least 4 major tests and a Final Exam. The Final is cumulative and will count for 20% of the final grade.
My grading policy is consistent with the GCHS grade policy.
